Ahead of today’s match at home against Ipswich Town in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

You can get involved with today’s Lincoln City v Ipswich Town Match Thread, as well as get involved with our pre-match threads: You can post your score predictions, discuss the starting XI, and predict the attendance!

We have also published a quiz about the last time the two sides met at Sincil Bank, which can be found below the three things!

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Get at them from the kick-off. Ipswich coach McKenna is suggesting they have been hit with a sickness bug. Is this a bit of media kidology? Will it really make a difference when you consider the relative size of their squad? I don’t honestly know but there is a way to test this out and that is to start the game at a very high tempo and put them under pressure from the kick-off. There was some suggestion was had a similar bug pre-Burton. It’s not really been elaborated on and certainly not used by the managerial team as an excuse for that performance, but if Ipswich have got their excuses in early let’s test it out and just get at them from the kick-off.

2. Defend high. Ipswich are the joint top scorers in the league and are averaging just under two goals a game. They have a number of players capable of putting the ball into the net. What was evident in their most recent match was that both of their goals were scored from close in. The game before that it was a very similar situation. Think back to our win at their place back in October. They had many shots. Not that many were on target and that was because those shots were being attempted from outside the area. Keep them at a distance and they are less potent.

3. Take any chance we create. Again going back to our win at their place in October we allowed them the ball but kept them at a distance. When we made a chance from a set piece we put the ball into the net. A repeat of the tactics and performance on that day just might see us nick another 3 points against a team that I still expect to finish in the top 2 come May.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
