Andy Davies was promoted to the English Football League as a Referee in the 2012/13 season. His first match refereeing in the Football League was between Exeter City and Morecambe (0-3) in League Two on Saturday, August 18 2012.

He started refereeing in 2004/05 and quickly moved through the promotion pyramid, reaching the Football League in just eight seasons. He was appointed Assistant Referee for the League Two Play-Off Final between Rotherham United and Dagenham Redbridge (2-3) at Wembley Stadium in the 2009/10 season.

Andy Davies has been the man in the middle for 2 matches involving Lincoln City:

02/03/19: Forest Green Rovers 1-2 Lincoln City (League Two) – 1 yellow card
12/09/20: Lincoln City 2-0 Oxford United (League One) – 2 yellow cards and 1 red card

TOTALS: Matches: 1 Yellow Cards: 3 Red Cards: 1

He received an average rating of 7.613 following the 2-0 win at home against Oxford United in September 2020. Some of the comments can be found below:

sedgleyimp: “I might as well kick it off with a solid 7.5. Seemed un-fussy and allowed a couple of strong challenges go. Correct red card for their defender when he lost his head after Harry’s run. Do think that the free kick for our second goal wasn’t one, but a very good standard today on the whole.”

Eweimps: “Good performance, sparing with his cards but a harsh one for the substitution at the end. Thought the red could have gone either way and strange with their free kick that was ordered to be retaken for a moving ball after some time had elapsed. Would be happy to have him again.

8/10.”

Scotimp “8.

I like the way he allowed play to continue whenever possible, was not whistle-happy and was not a Mike Dean clone, waving cards like confetti. Spoke to players when needed without being officious. Probably a mistake giving us the free kick that led to the second goal, but generally pretty good.”
