It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t football as Steve Tilson would have liked against Hereford United but it was effective and the result was another three points further away from the dreaded relegation scenario.

When on fire Delroy Facey put the Imps 1-0 up after 29 minutes is was always going to be backs against the wall stuff especially in the second half when City were battling the wind which had assisted them in the first half.

Talking of his goal to the Lincolnshire Echo he said: ‘I was pleased with the goal, the ball was played up to Ashley Grimes and luckily it richocheted off his head and into my path.’

If you watch the highlights it was a superb strike and Facey added: ‘The ball sat up nicely for me and I got a good connection which allowed it to go right in the bottom corner.’

With Delboy obviously enjoying his football and the responsibilities of captaincy seeming to inspire him who says he can’t get another tomorrow night against the Shrews.
