Views from Mackers67: “Surprised neither got recalled, I really am. But I think this is really good news for both players and the club. Burroughs is a good solid defender who has played a lot of games for us now. He gives us a good option defensively and plays left or right. Not 100% if everyone is fit he will always be a starter but you cannot question his effort and passion when he’s out there. I don’t think he will be here after the summer as I think the manager will prefer a wing-back as opposed to a defender, but really good he’s staying for the rest of the season.

So, great news re Jack, but of the two I really am pleased Mitchell is staying as I think he has been tremendous since he came in. I think the fact Millwall changed manager a short while ago means he won’t really have seen him play and may want to bring his own players in during this window, so I think they’ve missed a trick thankfully. Either way it’s great news for us and now he’s staying I hope we will start to think of him as one of ours as he certainly plays like one. I think it’s a massive coo if we want to get anywhere near the playoffs and going to be really interesting at the back as we have real competition now”

Reaction on the forum:

berksimps: “Their parent clubs don’t want them back: unbelievable.

Wonder if MS would like to sign them permanently. At least he has more time to make that decision.”

clanfordimp: “I’d like us to sign Mitchell.

And from what he said in a recent interview he knows and realises that he has reached the point that if he is not going to be in the Millwall squad then he will have to move on.

He’s 23 this year but has only been playing football seriously for the past 6 or 7 years because he was a very promising rower.

He would be a good acquisition for us. I rate him above O’Connor as a centre-back and can also play full-back.”

cdhIMP: “Good news about Mitchell, think Burroughs is easily replaceable. However, his versatility is his strength.

Echo people’s comments about wanting to sign Mitchell, however, he signed a new deal before he went on loan to Millwall so I don’t think he’d be obtainable without a largeish transfer fee.”
