Humble pie or pie in the sky?

As unbelievable as it is that the board of any football club could issue such a damning statement directed at their own hard paying supporters (Note the lack of inverted comma’s when I use the word supporters), nothing is a surprise anymore. Supporters of our once proud football club are so concerned about the demise in which we have suffered, and one that continues to go on at an ever increasing and alarming rate, have understandably decided enough is enough. The slide needs to stop before it is too late, if it is not too late already.

But what can we do when we have a board which is so focussed on self preservation rather than the small matter of taking decisive action to save our football club and returning our league status. The only thing we can do is voice our concerns about the shambolic way that our club is being run. We ‘supporters’ are the ones who travel to and from Sincil Bank every week, paying over the odds to see complete dross being served up and leaving on the back of yet another defeat. Yet we, the supporters, are forbidden from speaking out without fear of reprimand from the board or infact, as the inverted comma’s suggested, a down right blatent allegation of being ‘plastic’ fans.

I think that the delivered statement may well be the biggest own goal that the board has ever made out of a large catalogue of them. Something tells me that the protest planned for this weekend will be growing by the minute, that the attendances may well now be dwindling further. Will the club admit that this statement is wrong, nothing short of inflamatory and eat humble pie or we just have to go on in the knowledge that it is simply pie-in-the-sky and a complete and utter stab at self preservation.
