NINE successive home wins in all competitions now.

As far as I can tell, this is the best run since 1982-83 when Colin Murphy’s team won 11 home games in a row from the start of the season:

18/8 Grimsby 2-1 (FL Trophy)
21/8 Sheffield United 3-1 (FL Trophy)
28/8 Wigan 2-1
11/9 Reading 4-0
15/9 York 3-1 (Milk Cup)
25/9 Orient 2-0
29/9 Sheffield United 3-0
6/10 Leicester 2-0 (Milk Cup)
9/10 Doncaster 5-1
20/10 Exeter 4-1
30/10 Bradford 1-0

The run was stopped by West Ham, who drew 1-1 on 10 November. City then won the next 4 before going down to Huddersfield at Christmas.

Including the end of 1981-82, Murphy’s team actually won 15 in a row. In that entire run, they won 19 out of 20 and drew the other one.

The club record is 17 in a row in the Midland League and FA Cup between 28/9/1889 and 15/11/1890 – they won every home game for 14 months. Again, that is spread over two seasons and was not at Sincil Bank, of course.

The club record within one single season is 12 in 1889-90.

Graham Taylor’s side won 10 straight games in 1975-76.

City won 12 in a row between 23/1/1937 and 18/9/1937 (spread over two seasons).

They won 12 in a row between 15/3/1930 and 11/10/1930 (spread over 2 seasons).

They won 10 in a row in the Second Division between 16/2/1901 and 5/10/1901 (spread over 2 seasons).

Therefore, I think this is the fourth best run of home wins in all competitions within a single season in City’s history after 1889-90 (12), 1982-83 (11), and 1975-76 (10).

It is the seventh best run of home wins in all competitions in City’s history, after 1889 to 1890 (17), 1982 (15), 1937 (12), 1930 (12), 1976 (10) and 1901 (10).
