“Football is a game that we all love but it is often a cruel mistress.”

Following Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat away at Milton Keynes in Sky Bet League One, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Football is a game that we all love but it is often a cruel mistress. Tuesday’s match was a classic one where the best team did not prevail. We outplayed Milton Keynes for 88 minutes of the game playing some really good enterprising attacking football but we lost. Football is like that and as long term supporters you get used to some games where it just doesn’t go your way. The key is not to have a knee jerk reaction to a loss as the performance would have been good enough for 3 points on many other occasions.

2. In the last 20 minutes, many of the Milton Keynes players were struggling physically against our players all of whom seemed to be still able to perform at a high physical level. Yes they defended heroically chucking themselves at chances and blocking shots so credit is due them for that. As the season progresses though our energy levels will see us through against many a team.

3. At some point, we may have a new stadium or expand the current one. Ticket demand is high and we can easily accommodate several more supporters. When this is properly considered though MK’s stadium needs to be shown as one where you really need to downsize. Lovely to look at but as atmospheric as the moon due to the huge gaps.
