The good news keeps coming as Inspirational Imp and Captain Scott Kerr feels Barnet is a maybe but the Barnsley battle is a definite. Good job to Scott as Kettle is refereeing the barnet opener and we know he’s not on your Christmas card list. Clearly the chap does not understand that even a pitbull has a creative and loving side.

You get the feeling this could be the defining season for never say die Scott Kerr, the Imps tenacious midfield general. Silverware has pretty much passed him by bar a medal for England C, the amateur representative eleven, whilst playing for Scarborough. Scott would get a goal as we beat Scotland 3-2 to win the 2005 Four Nations Tournament. With Scarborough making Darlington look a bed of roses he would choose the Imps over rivals Grimsby that summer and be an ever present. An unsung hero for much of his career, personified by being a midfielder under Keith he has always done the hard work in midfield for us.

Under Schoey he was made captain and given licence to get forward. This showed that he could mix tenacity with more than a little creativity as Sincil bank experiences Schoeyball at its sensational sexiest. The following season he and Freck were a shade of their former selves as things unravelled. Kerr however was inspirational leading by example and driving us to Football league safety. It was no coincidence that season`s cameo`s came as O`Connor gave Scott the same freedom as Kerr again fought for most of the season in the midfield trenches all on his own. His brilliant late form saw him earn Vital Lincoln`s, the fans and the official site`s player of the year.

The word is that our Captain is 60/40 for Saturday with at least a place on the bench guaranteed. The medial ligament problem is fortunately on the mend now with Barnsley a raring certainty for a battling skipper who deserves something for his unselfish service to our football club over the last four seasons. Welcome back soon Scott always a pleasure to see you in the thick of things leading by example. All you have to do is convince the rest of the team that they want it halef as much as you do!
