Here’s what PWould said:

1. Confidence is clearly key. We played pretty well and for 25 minutes very well. Yes, with that same maligned midfield, but of course with Bridcutt as the orchestrator at the back. It made a difference, as did the fans staying with the team with one loud notable exception. How we enjoyed scoring a goal, and how much it lifted the morale. Both goals were beauties, well-made and finished.

2. It is a tough league. Cheltenham are likely to finish in the bottom half, but they still had plenty of quality. Vassell looked handy at centre-forward, with quick feet and brain. Alfie May was a real live wire, and they could bring on one-time imp target Dan Crowley. A small club in status, budget, and crowd size but still competitive and with Duff a decent manager.

3. There is quality and adaptability in our squad. Poole did well at centre-half, Bishop had a stormer at full-back. The midfield was more cohesive and there were some forward passing which created chances. Montsma was again back to his purring self. Add in Improvement from Mcgrandles and stardust of Draper ( watch him go when he gets that elusive first goal) and Fiorini making an impact ( well in the second half) then we start to look like a team. Griffiths was generally commanding. Improvement still needed from Adelakun and Bramall who were both hot and cold. Also, Maguire, who was everywhere on the pitch, but it did not quite work for him. Encouraging after a torrid few weeks.
