The Imps have come away from The Valley this evening with a point following a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic. A first-half strike from Reeco Hackett-Fairchild (37′) put City ahead going into the break, but the hosts were level in the 73rd minute thanks to a strike by Freddie Ladapo.

imps_joe: “Full time, I think it’s a decent point given the injuries we have and how widely reported it is that Charlton have a strong team on paper. Following their manager change, they were always going to lift their game and although they are in a battle they are unlikely to get relegated.
Yet despite all this, it frustrating how often we can’t win against teams that are in dire form. Oh well, 6 unbeaten!”
PerthImp: “Credit Charlton for their pressure in the second half. Jones knew exactly how to use the players he had and put physical pressure on us. We really lacked the presence and holding play of Hamilton and McGrandles second half, but the lads battled well and we deserved the point even when we weren’t at our best. Onward and upward.”
PortMacImp: “Fair result as we handed the initiative to Charlton in that second half. Jensen had little chance to save the shot from Ladapo as he was at full stretch to a powerfully hit shot that was always travelling across him into the far corner. Jensen bravely placed himself into positions where he punched the ball clear on several occasions. It was clear, particularly in the second half that we missed the players capable of winning possession in the midfield. I would like to see more of Moylan going forward as he has good feet.
