Carlisle United 1-3 Lincoln City: Three Things We Learnt

Following the 3-1 win away at Carlisle United in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learnt from the match.

Here’s what Impalex said:

1. That we have a very decent goalkeeping replacement in Jordan Wright who stepped up to the plate and kept us in the lead on a number of occasions. It must be very hard to keep doing it in training in the hope of being given a chance at some stage; OK so this situation has been thrown at MS out of the blue but, and here we must probably thank the goalkeeping coaching staff, there was a seemless transition. Forget any talk of ’emergency signing’ because we do NOT need one!

2. That Teddy Bishop continues to grow into a firm fans’ favourite with his excellent performances so far this season, and perhaps even moreso in recent games. He was head and shoulders above everyone else yesterday (excluding Wright) and fully deserved his goal, which was a beauty. We need to keep him on the books, and no mistake!

3. That the best teams always seem to come good in the end and in this current Michael Skubala side, we have one of the very best teams I have ever seen since 1963 and that includes Graham Taylor’s stunning side, Colin Murphy’s team of the early 1980s and Jon Schofield’s squad of 2006/07. We are winning games these days which we would have lost in previous seasons and have the knack of ‘finding a way’ to win as MS has often said. Enjoy the last five league games of the season and just let’s hope and pray it’ll be extended by three more games in May!
