This will be the second time Rebecca Welch has refereed a match involving Lincoln City and the second time for a match involving Burton Albion.

Her first match involving The Imps was versus Peterborough United at London Road last season when the hosts won comfortably 4-0. In this match, Welch showed 3 yellow cards (Paudie O’Connor and Jordan Garrick for City).

In her first match involving tomorrow’s visitors Burton Albion, which was at The Valley, which Charlton Athletic won 2-0, she showed 6 yellow cards, all of which were to Brewers players: Thomas Hamer, Adedeji Oshilaja, Ciaran Gilligan, Conor Shaughnessy, Harrison Chapman and Oumar Niasse.

Rebecca Welch received an average rating of 7.6 following the 4-0 defeat away at Peterborough United last season. Some of the comments can be found below:

syimp: “She was fine. No fuss, no poor decisions either way. A refreshing change from Busby, 8.”

APHLCFC: “I thought she gave them free kicks for stuff she wasn’t giving to us in the first half. The second half was a non-event. She didn’t affect the outcome of the game. I’d give her 7.”

abebaby: “7/10. Like others, I thought she was inconsistent between the teams in the first half. Although the penalty decision was correct, I did think that Ward seemed to pull O’Connor back initially. I think she was fortunate that we were as poor as we were.”

Welch oversaw a total of 26 matches last season, including 3 in the Women’s World Cup. In those 26 matches, she showed 87 yellow cards (3.35) and no red cards. She showed 6 yellow cards on two occasions: Fleetwood Town 1-0 Milton Keynes Dons in League One and Portugal Women 0-0 USA Women at the Women’s World Cup.

So far this season, Welch has refereed 2 matches, showing 10 (5.00) yellow cards and no red cards. 6 of the yellow cards came in the League One encounter between Derby County and Portsmouth (1-1) at Pride Park, including a booking for former Imp Regan Poole.
