This will be the fifth time Marc Edwards has been the man in the middle for a match involving Blackpool and the sixth for a match involving The Imps. It will also be the second time he has overseen a match involving both sides, having refereed the 2-2 draw at Sincil Bank in April 2021. He showed four yellow cards on that occasion, all of which were for City players (Conor McGrandles, James Jones, Brennan Johnson and Callum Morton).

His most recent match involving the hosts was their 0-0 draw at home versus Leyton Orient in League One back in August. He brandished four yellow cards on that occasion, all of which were for the visitors, in front of a crowd of 10,146 at Bloomfield Road.

His most recent match involving City was the 2-1 defeat away at Accrington Stanley in League One in April 2022. He showed three yellow cards and one red card on that occasion, including a red card for Stanley goalkeeper Toby Savin and bookings for City players Lewis Fiorini, John Marquis and Morgan Whittaker.

Marc Edwards was the man in the middle for 27 matches during the 2022/23 season. In those matches, he showed 85 yellow cards (3.15) and 1 red card. He was most card-happy in the seven-goal thriller between Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town in League One, showing 6 yellow cards and 1 red card.

So far this season he has refereed 14 matches, showing 65 yellow cards (4.64) and 1 red card. He showed 9 yellow cards in the League One match between Port Vale and Wigan Athletic (3-2) at Vale Park, including a booking for former Blackpool loanee Callum McManaman.
