OOh Lincoln take on Premier league Brum in League cup.

OOH Lincoln Ladies travel to Birmingham City on Sunday to face the National Division side in the first round proper of the Women`s Premier League Cup.

Lincoln secured the opportunity to face the blues when they knocked out Newcastle Utd. 3-1 in the preliminary round of the competition last month.

The good news for the Lady Imps is that they beat Birmingham in as summer pre-season friendly, however at least five of the top division`s side`s key players were missing that day – and OOH Lincoln chairman Geoff Adams is under no illusions that this will be a very tough encounter for his squad.

“Although I view this match as one that is one we are capable of winning, Birmingham are a formidable National Division side, which we all have the greatest respect for,” said Adams.

“Our performances have been hot and cold so far this season, and if we are to come away with a result on Sunday I have no doubt we will need to be at our best – if we are not Birmingham will make us suffer!”

“We have a good record of knocking tough National Division sides out of cup competitions – we gained an excellent victory in the 2008 FA Cup quarter final over Blackburn Rovers, and we thrashed Nottingham Forest 3-1 last season in the fifth round of the FA Cup – and that victory could have been so much bigger.

So we are hopeful of delivering another National Division scalp to our supporters on Sunday – however, I do stress that Birmingham are a very good side and it will be difficult” he said.
