The Big Freeze looks set to add the backlog of matches with the Boxing Day fixture against Port Vale now being postponed. This is now eight games the Imps have lost to the current weather conditions and it could be added to as a pitch inspection at Sincil Bank is due to be made on Monday ahead of the clash with Shrewsbury Town on the Tuesday.

The fixture list in January and February is now looking like a match every few days and with a small squad the Imps could be in big trouble if the curse of injuries and suspensions strikes hard. It is hard to fault the clubs involved, including Lincoln, for calling off matches well in advance so as not to cause supporters problems in travelling only to fall victim to a late postponement.

The Football League recognise the club`s duties to supporters and their communication officer John Nagle said yesterday ‘Given the recent cold spell it is very likely that we’ll see a number of games being called off in the coming days, it is therefore important that clubs do everything in their power to prevent supporters making wasted journeys to fixtures which are ultimately postponed.’

The FA Cup second round tie against Hereford United is the most often postponed match to date having been called off three times. Away fixtures at Cheltenham and Aldershot have also been lost as have home ties against Oxford.

Fingers crossed that the New Year fixture against Bradford City is on as the Imps have now racked up over 30 days without playing a competitive football match.
