With City fourth in League One and through to the third round of the Carabao (League) Cup, who were our star performers during a successful August?

Top of the pile is ETHAN ERHAHON, exuding class and leadership in abundance. Erhahon captained the side for the first time at Sheffield United and staked a claim for the role in the event of O’Connor’s departure for higher echelons. He then capped an excellent month with a cracking first goal for the Imps against backpedalling Blackpool.
TEDDY BISHOP takes second place after a number of super sub appearances resulting in two goals. Have City stumbled upon an influential role for a player with undoubted talent but dubious physical resilience? Or can they translate that transitory influence into regular 90-minute contributions? Intriguing.
In third place, we have DANNY MÂNDROIU, another player with class to burn, two goals in the month and an emphatic opening penalty at Sheffield United. The call-up to the ROI squad did not materialise, but who would bet against a return to international football for City’s mercurial magician before much longer?
Honourable mentions this month go to Lukas Jensen and Alex Mitchell. Jensen has responded magnificently to a difficult opening day at Bolton and ended the month as a shootout hero at Bramall Lane while Mitchell emphasised his ability with a commanding full debut against Premier League opposition in the same game.
The average team rating of 6.66 is unsurprisingly the best of the season so far.
