Like the bloodstained hero returning to the victorious battlefield, Simon Yeo has re-signed on the dotted line for Lincoln City after a brief stint in New Zealand.

The Imps faithful couldn’t have wished for a better Christmas present, with cult hero Yeo finally ending weeks of speculation by penning an 18-month deal with Keith Alexander’s men.

‘There was only one club I wanted to join and that was Lincoln City,’ admitted the 32-year-old.

‘It’s fantastic to be back and I’m happy to have signed. Now I can get on with things and help take the club forward.

‘I’m just looking forward to kicking a ball and getting that red and white shirt on my back again.’

With City struggling to consistently find the net this season, Yeo’s arrival should give Alexander’s side a massive boost ahead of their hectic Christmas schedule.

Yeo isn’t eligible to play until January 1st, when the transfer window re-opens, but just his presence at the club will give everyone a welcome shot in the arm, especially the supporters.

On a poll conducted on this website a week ago, over 90 per cent of fans said they wanted Yeo to return and their wish has now been granted.

Manager Alexander is naturally delighted at re-capturing the former Hyde United striker and is hoping he can continue where he left off for the Imps.

‘I’m delighted to have Simon back,’ enthused Alexander. ‘He is a proven goalscorer and we’re hoping that he’ll score goals again now he’s back with us.
