Thank you to Peterborough United supporter “Chompy” for answering these questions!

How Long Have You Supported Peterborough United?

Since the mid 80s. My first game was Phil Chard’s last for the club before he joined the enemy (Cobblers). Feels like a lifetime ago.

Last Season’s League Finish?

Was about as good as could have been expected given it was McCann’s rookie season and all the off-field issues he had to deal with. We never had the feel of a winning, together team but that’s changed this time round.

What Do You Think Of Your Manager?

I’ll be honest, I wanted Steve Evans and wasn’t convinced for a good while but I’m gradually becoming a fan. He’s still made the odd mistake this season regarding formation and substitutions, which cost us four points against Charlton (A) and Doncaster (H), but at no point have the players ever stopped playing for him. I’ve got 100% faith in him as a judge of talent too and he’s now cleared up the mess left for him by Westley. Don’t get me started on Graham ‘ten different left-backs in one season, including Marcus Maddison’ Westley! Unlucky Barnet.

Hopes/Expectations This Season?

Hopes are not to get hammered by Leicester in the FA Cup this weekend, a top-six finish and two successful trips to Wembley, one for the Checkatrade, the other for the play-off final. A lot will depend on what happens in the remainder of the January window. We could lose Marriott and/or Maddison, or we could keep both. Who knows? As for expectations, if being a Posh fan for over 30 years has taught me anything, it’s to expect the unexpected. That will never change and neither would I want it to. It’s never boring being a Poshie!

Top Six Predictions?

There’s no way Wigan and Blackburn don’t fill the top two spots, so the chasing half dozen or so are only really looking towards the play-offs – Wigan, Blackburn, Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe, Bradford, Posh.

Bottom Four Predictions?

Blackpool, Wimbledon, Rochdale, Bury. Blackpool were flattered by their good start and have tumbled since then. 6-1 for the drop looks a decent bet to me.

One(s) To Watch?

Plenty. The Checkatrade was one of our pre-season targets and intent counts for a lot in a tournament most clubs would rather do without. We’ve consequently played a strong team throughout. Bond is the best keeper we’ve had here in many a moon, Tafazolli has been outstanding of late, Chris Forrester is back to his best in midfield, and Maddison and Marriott need no introduction.

Thoughts on Lincoln City?

I need them in the top three for my pre-season divisional Yankee! I’d imagine the league is far more important to you than this competition. At least that’s what I’m hoping. I’ve kept an eye out for your results this season since Bostwick made the switch. I’m sure you boys love the guy as much as we did. Such a trier.

Score Prediction?

Wouldn’t have the faintest idea. Score predictions are tough at the best of times but in this competition they’re borderline impossible. I’d sooner not have to go to penalties again if possible though, as good as we were at them against Luton.

Random Fact About Your Club?

We hold the record for highest number of points for a team relegated from the Championship (54). Marvellous!

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Peterborough United Supporter?

Proudest would have to be the play-off wins. There’s nothing quite like going up through the play-offs. Most embarrassing…probably the way I completely lost the plot at Villa Park a few weeks ago. Englishness went out the window for half an hour or so and did it ever feel good!

Which was your favourite match involving Peterborough United?

If I had to single out one it would be the 4-4 against Cardiff in 2009, when we were 4-0 down at half-time, but we had a bunch of crazy games that season. We couldn’t defend but were so good going forward. They were special times and we’re close to getting back there as long as Darragh stays at the helm.

Which was your least favourite match involving Peterborough United?

No-brainer this one, it was the defeat at Crystal Palace that sent us down in 2013. A point would have been enough and we were 2-1 up with not long left against a team who already had a play-off spot sewn up. Still painful now.
