Thank you to Macclesfield Town Supporter Chris for answering these questions!

How Long Have You Supported Macclesfield Town?

I have supported Macclesfield Town all my life (34 years)

Last Season’s League Finish?

We finished 6th, 1 goal away from the play-offs.

What Do You Think Of Your Manager?

John Askey is a Macclesfield legend and has been with the Club since 1984, he is regarded as one of the best managers in Non-League.

Hopes/Expectations This Season?

We have got to Wembley and finished in a reasonable position considering we have probably the lowest budget in our League.

One(s) To Watch?

Rhys Browne.

Top Five Predictions?

Lincoln City, Tranmere Rovers, Forest Green Rovers, Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot Town.

Bottom Four Predictions?

Southport FC, North Ferriby United, Braintree Town and Torquay United.

Thoughts on Lincoln City?

Have always thought that Lincoln are a friendly Club, considering we have played each other every season for the last 20 years apart from one season. My Stand out match is the one at the Moss Rose back in 1998 when Barry Richardson kicked John Askey while on the floor, Barry got sent off.

Score Prediction?

Random Fact About Your Club?

Macclesfield Town’s ground was named after the local pub called the Moss Rose.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Macclesfield Town Supporter?

My proudest moment was when we gained promotion to the Football League, it was the best achievement yet for the Football Club. My most embarrassing moment was when we got relegated from the Football League, we didn’t win a single game in 25 games, that’s League and FA Cup matches.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

Yes we have a Supporters Trust, they work very hard behind the scenes to raise money to keep the Club going. They have raised funds to upgrade the tea kiosk, paid the company who provide the Clubs merchandise for the season and they sponsor the manager’s kit, they also have shares in the Club.

Which was your favourite match involving Macclesfield Town?

There has been some memorable matches over the years, but my favourite has to be our victory vs Stevenage away in 1996 – we were two nil down and down to 10 men with 20 minutes to go, we won the game 2-3.

Which was your least favourite match involving Macclesfield Town?

Losing away to Dagenham in 2011 that was the game when I realised that we were going down.

Do you think Macclesfield supporters have unrealistic expectations of their Club? It is a small town, with a small catchment area for supporters, and with two huge Clubs a short train ride away. In that context, is simply being in the National League a more relevant measure of success?

Every supporter of every Club always has high expectations, that shouldn’t mean that the Club can’t over achieve and can’t achieve great things.

Why were Lewis and Rowe sold? Makes little sense from afar, unless they desperately needed the money.

Paul Lewis and Danny Rowe were sold because the money that was offered by Cambridge and Ipswich was too good to turn down from the Football Club.
