“What a game, what an atmosphere, what a battle.”

Views from berksimps following Saturday’s 2-1 win away at Cambridge United in Sky Bet League Two: “How differently we see games, I thought we were poor for much of the first half, Harry and Rheady being the exceptions. That half, we defended deeper and deeper and Shackell probably played as poorly as I have seen him this season. He also had a go at Smith for the goal, when we were initially caught on the break and their number 14 got up better than any of us. I don’t think we even tested their keeper first half.

Second half and there was more belief, Harry continued to be unplayable but may have been lucky with the clash of heads incident. Rheady didn’t miss a header virtually all game and he and Akinde kept and shielded the ball so well. Eardley’s free-kick was sublime, Akinde’s goal was almost sucked into the net by the travelling 2,200 Imps fans. Thereafter is was Rourke’s Drift, bodies laid on the line, and Smith earning his corn.

What a game, what an atmosphere, what a battle. The day ends with City on 50 points, 6 ahead of the rest. We would all have taken that.”

More views from the Match Thread:

JT_LCFC: “Fantastic just shows fighting for every point is crucial, suddenly with the results we are 8 points from 3rd with a game in hand. Win on NYD and we can really enjoy Everton.”

BMF 53: “Performances like today win teams promotion. City showed great fight in the second half and grafted out a superb win. A bit lucky, yes, with Cambridge hitting the woodwork twice, however, 3 more points are in the bag. At the end of the season, I think we will all look back on the second half today as being the pivotal moment of the season.

It must have been a great boost to have nearly 2300 away fans, 100 miles from home. A great show all-round. UTI”
