Imps News

“Well, that probably speaks volumes.”

It was revealed yesterday by Michael Hortin on Twitter that Ellis Chapman has rejected his revised COVID-19 contract after he didn’t reply about the January offer. Unsurprisingly, rumours have appeared about who he could be joining, with Swindon Town and Oxford United both mentioned. You can discuss this news on 100% Imps.

Hortin also revealed that The Imps are hopeful of making some signings in the next week or so, which will certainly give us something more to talk about on 100% Imps!

Reaction on 100% Imps:

JT_LCFC: “I think he may have benefited with another loan spell last season. He’s a tidy footballer, and very young so he has chance to develop.

However, he would have to come back significantly better, if he wanted a first-team spot for a League 1 side.”

RedImp73: “Don’t see that losing Ellis is a great loss. He might have been talked up by managers and some supporters, but those managers have never seen fit to give him any extended game time in the first team. I remember watching him in 2 or 3 FA Youth Cup games where he should have been one of the best players on the pitch, certainly in a Lincoln shirt. He never was however and I came away from all of those quite underwhelmed by him.

That said he is still young, has a chance to develop further and may well make a good career out of the game somewhere.”

Luke Imp: “How long do you give him to get that potential into something tangible? Personally speaking I’d be disappointed if he was above 4th choice CM next season if he was here.

If Michael Appleton, widely regarded as one of the best coaches of young players in the country, doesn’t fancy pushing the boat out then, well, that probably speaks volumes.”
