“We overpowered and ripped through them quite comfortably in the end.”

Views from Luke Imp following yesterday’s 4-0 win at home against Southend United in Sky Bet League One: “Absolute dog turd from Southend from 25 minutes onwards.

It was a fairly even start and I thought we were in for half a game although we were the ones creating half openings but once the first goal went in, that was it. We stepped it up a gear, they couldn’t keep up with the work rate and pressing (or the attempt at it, anyway) and we overpowered and ripped through them quite comfortably in the end. If we weren’t saving a bit of energy in the final 10 and playing keep ball then we perhaps could have gone for another one or two.

Probably the best home game since MK Dons last September. Good chance to give Bostwick, Anderson and Walker a breather as well.

Their number 19, left-sided CB could’ve had 4 bookings not just the one he got, their Captain in CM was a nothing player who trotted around looking very pretty but not doing anything. Their best player on the day was probably their RB, although that’s a bit of a backhanded compliment.

The lad that came on at HT, with a face mask, at least was trying to work hard and make something happen.”

More views from the Match Thread:

JT_LCFC: “It was a demolition job – I thought 1st half we were knocking but not really creating, however, took our chances and were in the ascendancy going into half time.

2nd half we ripped them to pieces. I just felt the difference today was the speed of thought, the fitness of our players who were far superior to the counterparts.

In the end, Southend’s hatchet men just couldn’t get near us.”

Sausthorpe Imp: “Just got back from the game. Really exciting, flowing footie and great atmosphere! Payne outstanding but everyone gave100%. Bozzie solid and determined in midfield, defence dominating and lively inventive midfield. Harry didn’t get a trademark dribble, but chased and won the ball back with his tenacity and speed. And the team oozed confidence. Onwards and upwards!”

Gaz_Imp: “Superb.

When you score 4 you should be talking about the attackers. But for me, the most impressive thing had to be our shape and togetherness. Brilliant off the ball and so well drilled. Then got players now who will punish a side when they do lose it.

4 clean sheets, not a fluke – teams are struggling to break us down and having to resort to long rangers.

Payne and Morrell are ace.”
