“We need to defend as we did against Forest Green Rovers.”

Ahead of tonight’s match against Wolves U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what NottyImp said:

1. Not the face! Get stuck in. These fancy-dan babies won’t like being on the receiving end of a bit of League Two rough-and-tumble. A few early “robust” challenges should set the tone nicely. All fair and within the rules, obviously.

2. We need to defend as we did against Forest Green Rovers. We may need to if they’re any good at holding the ball. Something similar to Saturday with a whole fleet of buses parked on the edge of our box should do the trick.

3. We must hurt them with set pieces. This can be a strength of ours (Jules: as we saw in the 6-2 win at Port Vale in Sky Bet League Two) and they may not be used to dealing with the likes of Mr Rhead, etc. If we can nick a goal or two that way, then we should be fine.

There is also something to look out for tonight, as Scotimp has posted on tonight’s Match Thread: “Rheady has a great chance to get the two goals he needs to hit 50 for the club. The Wolves toddlers won’t have encountered anything quite like him before.

That would be a great achievement and in my view secure a valid place amongst the 100 legends.”
