Views from Joseph Lovett after yesterday’s 3-1 win at home against Notts County in Sky Bet League Two: “Great team performance today! We could have won that by a couple more if we really wanted to, but eased off towards the end when we knew the job was done.

The first goal. Wow. Just wow. What a hit by Freck. One of the best we’ve seen recently? We looked to have the game in control and then we give away a cheap free-kick that results in their equaliser. It’s a good delivery into the ‘corriodor of uncertainty’ that goes through everyone, but we’ve got to be looking at the poor wall placement. Our second comes from some shocking goalkeeping which allows Andrade to smash in a deserved goal. Everyone’s waiting for the red to blow up (as they usually do), thankfully he doesn’t. Thought half time came at a good time because County were looking to gain control of the match. Second half comes and only one team comes out. Fantastic football leading up to our third goal before Bruno puts in a great ball for Anderson to smash in. 3-1 and game over. Foot off the gas and cruise to the finish.

Pretty much everyone played very well today. Not sure if that’s because of how good we were or how bad Notts county are. County spent a lot of the time smashing the ball forward for Bossie and Shackell easily deal with. The few times they played it on the floor they looked decent. However, in all honesty, we completed bossed the game, particularly the 2nd half. I was shocked when we had s corner at 3-1 up and they still didn’t leave anyone up front. Madness.

I’m still not sure about Toffolo, but his second-half performance has definitely made me think otherwise. Eardley has an oddly poor game, lots of missed placed passes. The standout one being the when he played through Hemmings, fortunately, he hit the post. However, did think he was fouled just before.

Midfield was dominant today. Pett continued from Tuesday. O’Connor looked a compass cool head. Frecklington was the standout performance and my man of the match. The goal alone puts him as a strong candidate, but he was heavily involved and rarely put a foot wrong. Chapman looked assured when he came on.

The two wingers both narrowly missed out on the man of the match accolade from me. Anderson was back to his best. He always wanted the ball and had the full backs running in circles. Likewise, Andrade had a stella performance and I’m delighted he’s got a goal today.

Akinde getting better each game. He looked fitter and sharper today. Much more productively involved in linking play together. When he went off we were struggling to get the ball to stick up front. Keep the trend going and he’ll be a massive handful.”

Gaz_Imp: “Aware of getting carried away as that looked a really poor Notts team. But a much better performance today.

I said questions were being asked of Akinde and Freck after Grimsby. Both excellent today. Both put in a real shift and incredible goal from Freck.

Wingers were also very good, Bruno best option we’ve had on the left in a good while.

And I thought Pett was great again. I know his name doesn’t fit, and that Akinde has taken the mantle, but he should be person sang about in the Earth, Wind and Fire – September chant, because he genuinely never gives the balls away!

Exeter will be a real test of how far we have actually come on, but we’ve got every right to go into that confident after today. Assume we will see Lizards at Blackburn.”

PerthImp: “Well, that was a slightly odd game. Odd from the point of view that – were we that good or were County that bad? Combination of both I think. County really looked disorganised and like they really were not up for it – right from the off they were very poor and I can see why they are bottom of the league. Have to say I think I’m getting a bit delusional as I had visions of us smashing 5 or 6 past them, but some of our passes were just missing the mark (think I’m getting fussy as well). At HT I actually thought Anderson should go off and we should bring Green on as I thought he would provide more control and goal threat in and around the box. Glad I was wrong as Harry had a blistering second half, capped with a superbly taken goal. That will have done his confidence a lot of good.

Great to see Akinde perform and looking much sharper. Eardley still off a little with his crossing and he seems to be doing it from a bit deeper instead of overlapping the winger and getting behind the opposition FB. Andrade was out of this world and great to see him score. My MoM just ahead of Freck. Great to see the top performances coming from others – thought Shackell, Pett & O’Connor looked a bit ordinary today, but by their high standards…

Lets not get cocky until we’ve beaten Exeter, Mansfield & MK Dons, then we can seriously start to think about Championships, if we can keep it up, particularly as we gel more and get better as the season goes on, but its great to be where we are and dream where we could be next year.”
