Three Things The Imps Need To Do To Beat Manchester City U21s

Ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home against Manchester City U21s in the EFL Trophy, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Just relax and play a game with nothing riding on it. We have qualified for the knockout games as have Man City. So other than a prize of ten thousand pounds for winning the game there’s precious little riding on this match. We are just as likely to win an away game in the knockouts as a home game so finishing top of the group isn’t that vital. So go into the game without any pressure on you. Enjoy the opportunity to just go and play a game.

2. Penalties. The game goes to penalties after 90 minutes and technically that will give us a win rather than a draw. So get some spot-kick practice done for the whole squad. There will be a time in the future when we get a spot-kick and Jorge Grant won’t be on the pitch so it’ll be good practice for the rest of the squad in any case.

3. Shoot. Our goals per chances average is pretty good. We have become quite adept at scoring goals when we have a chance, so by that statistic if we have a number of shots several are going to go in. Treat the match as shooting practice. If they go in great. If they don’t hey ho. Won’t matter when the important matches come around.
