Ahead of Saturday’s match away at Accrington Stanley (managed by John Coleman) in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as many other topics on our 100% Imps forum! We have also published a Lincoln City v Accrington Stanley Quiz, which can be found just below the three things. Every page view helps raise money for Lincoln City Football Club!

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Don’t let them run at us. Last February’s game was played in the most bizarre weather conditions and those worsening ones certainly helped them overcome a 3-2 deficit to win 4-3 very late on. But part of that loss was us standing back and allowing their players to run with the ball and get a shot away (wind-assisted). Accrington are playing well and scoring plenty of goals so it does seem that given half a chance they’ll have a shot. Don’t give them that chance.

2. Conversely run at them. We have some fast and direct players up front and their best games have been when they take the chance to run at the opposition defence with the ball. Penalties have resulted as have clear chances. Keep doing this and we’ll reap the benefits.

3. Corners and set plays. I am repeating myself here having put this on at least the last two what do we need to do threads. We can score from dead-ball situations and had some success with this early on in the season. The delivery of late has been poorer. Hopefully, the free week before the City game has allowed for some practice in this field.

Which Lincoln City player scored his only goal for the club during last season's 3-4 defeat at Accrington?

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
