“The Rotherham game was a good example of how the goals will come.”

|

Ahead of Saturday’s match away at Gillingham in Sky Bet League One, we asked our members what three things The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what Rob the Imp said:

1. Go out and play the way we know we can. Appleton’s effect on the playing style is becoming more and more noticeable, including some slick passing and moving as we have seen in the last few matches. The Rotherham game was a good example of how the goals will come if we keep it up and perhaps have an extra player arriving late from midfield to support attacks.

2. Utilise the squad effectively. The performance on Tuesday must surely have given Appleton some decisions to make, with several fringe players putting in pleasing performances. If there are any tired legs in the usual first XI, it might be time to give a few others a chance. They’ve shown they are capable.

3. Believe in each other. Sounds silly but a bit of belief goes a long way, so long as complacency doesn’t set in. There’s a lot of talent in this team and a few small margins will make the difference soon enough. Push, take the shot, and we might just earn three valuable points.
