The Memories Thread HERE

A maker of financial mountains from Football molehills will make this true football man a giant in the game forever. Keith leaves positive legacies everywhere he went. KA cast admin aside to make two million at Lincoln realising that great managers in the modern game are the jugglers not the imports given silver spoons. Many say Peterborough was wrong for Keith as he was like a kid in a sweet shop with all that money. Certainly he excelled in performing miracles at Lincoln and Macclesfield best, but Peterborough has now lost that money and it will be the proceeds of Keith`s players that come to their aid. If you want to look at what`s right with football or you want to help to make it right tread in Keith`s footsteps. He died on the day the FA relaunched the Respect campaign. No one respected the game more than Keith Alexander. Rest In peace, Lord of the Imps. When Keith goes to heaven if it`s not right he`ll be sure to pay them up because its only fit and proper.

Here are some of the truly touching messages and memories pouring in

YELLOW SOCKS!

As a player for us remember him scoring a peach of a free kick against Oakham in a friendly in 1992.Always enjoyed the Keef,Keef,Keef chants. As a manager he rejuventated the whole club after adminstration and gave us a team to be proud off again.Never met him personally but always came over as a warm, kind and honest man that had time for everyone.Even when he moved on to other clubs I still saw him as a Lincoln man,one of ours, and thought he might return to us one day. Will be missed.

Remember taking my lad who was about 11 at the time to the team photograph shoot, he wanted the teams autographs but was too shy to ask for them, Keith sensed this, came over & signed his book, then told Gary Simpson that no player was allowed to leave the pitch until they’d ‘signed this lad’s book’
It made his day having the entire City squad in a queue waiting to sign before they could leave.
That was typical of KA, he cared about all the fans.

The first time we met Keith was before he was manager. V had a cap on and as he passed us it blew off. He raced after it and gave it her back with an elaborated bow. It made us grin from ear to ear. He never passed us without a cheery word and sometimes a long chat after that.
It’s a shocked and glum household right now, with ‘Alex’ the hoody wearing LCFC teddy bear in pride of place on the fireplace.

I remember meeting him in the offices at the Bank before the season started during his first spell as manager. I had my four year old kid with me and Keith said something to him along the lines of ‘you might be a future player for Lincoln, we need all the help we can get!’ The fact that he took the time to say something to a kid when many would just ignore them sums the bloke up. Top man.

Should have been given the freedom of the City for what he achieved.

I’ve supported the Imps for 40 years through all the ups and downs. There have been some emotional times, but for me the greatest was the first Play-Off Final at Cardiff against Bournemouth. After administration and the fairly uneventful season we had, we came from nowhere and ended up at Cardiff. It was a truly magic day and to see Keith and the lads come out on the pitch really brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. It didn’t matter that we got thumped by Bournemouth – it was just great to be there and part of a tremendous achievement. All due to Keith and the team he put together. And he always had a smile and time for the fans.

The way he made my son welcome one pre season, we went down to the bank to buy a ticket, one of the gates was open so I took my lad 6 years old to look at the pitch, Keith was walking by and took him onto the pitch and shown him around the ground and into the changing rooms and then into his office and let him sit in his chair. i just wish I had a camera with me, a real gentleman.

My memories of KA will not be the football, nor the trips to Cardiff, but the way he galvanised the club staff, players and fans. It was Lincoln against the world with KA as gaffer.

some great memories here, I’ll just miss the banter with all the Notts fans every single time he came to Meadow Lane as I said, Wont be the same with him not coming to our ground ever again

The playoffs, beating Grimsby 5-0, beating Scunny 5-3. Signing some fantastic players for next to nothing. Being ‘there or thereabouts’.
Everything!
