The Clandestine Keeper chronicles continue

More rumours and Chinese whispers this week. The visit of someone ‘hush hush` from Manchester way got us putting 2 and 2 together to come up with 3. Well the Imps have come up short more often than not in the past.

We stress this is in no way concrete. However we are in for 2 keepers at the moment to fill the void left by Mazza. Crewe and Manchester have also been mentioned both in the media and locally.

So who are the three who have apparently replaced one eyed Nelson in the frame?

Ben Williams has left Crewe and has Manchester connections having played for Manchester United before Meningitis threatened his career.
Manchester, England
Date Of Birth: 27/ 08/ 1982 Height: 6’0 Weight: 13st 0lbs
Appearances: 49(0) Yellow Cards: 0 Red Cards: 0 Minutes on Pitch:4410
A brave and competent keeper.

Crewe`s ex no 2, Owain Fôn Williams seems more likely. He is 21, 6 foot four 12st 2lbs and still growing. He joined the club after impressing during a trial spell and was signed on scholarship forms in 2003. He was first choice for the club’s under-19 team but suffered a broken leg during his second year which halted his progress. He is now a regular at Crewe Alexandra.

Williams is a Wales under-21 international after making his debut in a friendly against Northern Ireland and is currently first choice goalkeeper for the team. He has also played for the Wales under-19 team on several occasions.

The third potential keeper is Tommy Lee who despite his playoff heroics has failed to settle in the south Manchester area. Although Rochdale was slightly closer to his Keighley (Bradford) roots the Yorkshire lad would certainly have an easier drive on the M62 Eastbound. Though that may not be as far as Lincoln.

Vital Choice one of the Williams and I dont mean sisters.
