The Bees Could Still Sting

As Steve Tilson’s team prepare for the relatively short journey down the A1 to Barnet the bottom placed club are fighting for their Football League lives.

Recently appointed manager Paul Fairclough is trying to turn things round for the north London side and has stopped the team shipping as many goals as they were doing under previous manager Mark Stimson.

Bee’s striker Izale McLeod has not been a regular due to injury and Barnet have had a number of injuries to key players in recent weeks.

By all accounts they were unlucky to lose 2-1 to Southend on Tuesday night with Steve Kabba scoring for the Bees. Fairclough is an old campaigner and as a hero at Underhill he will have improved team spirit, similar to the job Tilly did at Lincoln.

Fairclough was asked to keep Barnet up in the previous season and managed to do just that so there is a feeling he may be the one to do the same again. Tilson meanwhile will be hoping that Ashley Grimes can find his scoring boots after a blank against League leaders Chesterfield last weekend.

With the Imps not having had a midweek game this week it is to be hoped that the Imps will come out firing on all cylinders and get a result at Underhill which will see them move ever closer to the magic 50 points and League 2 survival. Let’s hoep there is not a sting in the tail.
