Yesterday The Imps announced the signings of Alex Palmer and Callum Morton on loan from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion, as well as the permanent signing of former Blackburn Rovers player Remy Howarth. Below you will find the views from two of our members.
sedgleyimp: “Good things come to those who wait. The three announced signings today have been mooted for well over a month now and they have been very warmly received. When you consider the squad which has been assembled over the past few weeks, much was made of the fact that we had one senior goalkeeper and only one out and out striker. Ethan Ross and Tom Hopper are good players in those positions but both quality and quantity was required to compete for starting positions. Today we have filled that requirement and then some. Alex Palmer was the best goalkeeper in League 2 last year. Callum Morton has been suggested as being one of the best striking prospects in the country. We are fortunate that a Premier League team trusts our management to develop them in what will be a very competitive league.
We also have the wild card signing of Remy Howarth. A player on no fans radar until the Salford game. The little bit that he has shown in pre-season suggests a player capable of doing something out of the ordinary on occasions.
The additions of these players show the quality we can now tempt to Sincil Bank. Yes we have lost several beloved players from the last few seasons for varying reasons, but we have a squad full of potential, and this season just could be very exciting as a consequence.
If I must add a but, and I feel that I must, it is the use of that word potential. We have a very young squad now but expectations will still be high, and only higher by today’s signings. Players will need that bit of time. Palmer might make a mistake which concedes a goal, Morton miss an open goal, Howarth fluff a cross. It might be an advantage that there will be no supporters at the ground to immediately get on their backs, but the keyboard warriors will be in full flow. The whole team needs time and patience to develop into what it could easily do come the turn of the year. Give them that time and we just might be looking forward to a very exciting end to the 20/21 season when we can all get back into the stadium to roar this team onto success.”

Huntsward: “Micheal Appleton seemingly wrapped up a fair segment of his transfer dealings prior to Saturdays fixture away in the Carabao Cup against Crewe Alexandra.
The signing of West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer and striker Callum Morton on loan will no doubt go some distance in alleviating some fans’ concerns that there were gaps to be filled in these areas. Both come with a high pedigree having performed well for their respective clubs in league two last season, with Palmer picking up the player of the year award whilst under Plymouth’s custodianship and Morton bagging a few for Northampton Town.
The addition of attacking midfielder Ramirez Howarth is an exciting prospect after featuring heavily during pre-season as a trialist and is perhaps a curveball addition having arrived from Welsh side Cefn Druids. Having featured at youth level for Blackburn Rovers, he has attracted the eye of Appleton who has rewarded him with a one year deal.
There is cautious optimism amongst Imps fans’ for the coming season and these signings will be welcomed by many as a step in the right direction.”
