“Still top, but that’s another kick in the teeth.”

Apologies for the delay. My laptop decided to stop working on Monday and today was the first opportunity I had to go and buy a new one! So, here are the views from Joseph Lovett following Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Stevenage in Sky Bet League Two: “Still top, but that’s another kick in the teeth. The number of goals we’ve conceded in the last 5 minutes of the game recently is ridiculous. We’re not able to see out games, so why do we sit so deep and invite teams on. Both the players and fans going into the last few minutes of games are on edge. We should have comfortably seen that out today but, despite warnings (even before the first chair goal) we still didn’t press him to prevent him shooting. With the fixtures we’ve got coming up it was a. Gutting 2 points to drop.”

UnbelievableJeff: “I will be balanced.

First half was incredibly turgid. The most exciting thing that happened was me finding a Twix in my bag, that I had forgotten about.

Second Half was a lot better until, for some reason known only to the players, we sat off and let Chair, who likes doing exactly what he did today, have a couple of free attempts at our goals. He very nearly completed the smash and grab.

Even at 2-0 up, I was incredibly nervous, and with Chair’s first goal on 87 mins, I had a sneaking suspicion that it may not be over. We are not going to win leagues and will struggle to get promoted if we do not sort out our leaking in the last 10 minutes. ScotImp wrote above, we have taken the lead in 5 games now, since the New Year and have been pegged back in them. Once or twice, you can forgive, but FIVE, is less forgivable and it has to be left at the door of the managers and players.

Something is not right, something is wrong with the tactics, attitudes or mindsets for this to happen. Smith only just saved that third shot and I almost thought he hadn’t.

We should not be holding on like that. Again I felt bringing on O’Hara was wrong. What has he actually done, since he came here – apart from looking absent? There is an argument for bringing on another forward, for taking it into the corners and playing six minutes of boring possession football. I know it is boring as hell, but it wins you games.

Our record is now P 19 W7 D10 L 2, since we whacked Port Vale (we conceded late in that game too.)

31 points from 57. Thank God the opposition are so unreliable and average, as we most certainly have been.

Back to the training ground and drawing board. Tough questions need to be asked, honest answers need to be given. We do not want this to be a replay of 06/07. Still, 14 games left to go though. My goodness, it’s all getting very interesting, isn’t it?”

Gaz_Imp: “Bizarre. We drew yet feels worse than a defeat!

Akinde goal looked a yard into me. We then go 2 up. The linesman has a mare on the first! McCartan should put us 3 up after being put through by Akinde but the first touch let him down. Chair then scores two worldies after looking dangerous all day we failed to stop him. Despite the having more efforts felt like we had the better chances, was always going to be long range for them if they scored.”

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
