Lincoln City captain Paul Morgan insists his side can bounce back from their mauling at Cheltenham and grab a rare away win at Northampton Town.
The Imps, who have only registered one win on their travels all season, lost 4-1 to the Robins a week ago despite controlling the game for large periods, and Morgan feels a victory is well within their grasp.
?It was never a 4-1 game,? said Morgan, referring to the match at Whaddon Road, when City fought back from a goal down only to concede a couple of goals within the space of four minutes that effectively killed them off.
?We were so much on top in the second-half, but those two quick goals destroyed us. You could see the lads? heads drop, especially after we had put so much into the match. It does knock you back.
?But we need to pick ourselves up, put things right on the pitch and show the fans what we can do. We are more than capable of getting the right result as we have the players, but we just need to perform as a team on the day.?
And although boss Keith Alexander failed in his efforts to sign any new players before the loan transfer deadline on Thursday, Morgan reckons a familiar, settled side could benefit City on Saturday.
?Playing in a settled side, without chopping and changing things, is an advantage for the lads. It?s much easier as a team to gel when you perform with the same players week in, week out.
‘Of course, in the summer there were a lot of people arriving and leaving the club and it took us quite a few weeks to develop an understanding. But I think the fact we didn?t sign anyone yesterday means we can keep that familiar look and hopefully it should stand us in good stead.?
The Cobblers were one of the pre-season favourites for the League Two title, but Morgan feels that will count for nothing come 1pm ? a kick-off time that Morgan described as ?strange? ? on Saturday afternoon.
?They have spent a lot of money, but we we?ve had much more success than them over the past three years and we are a smaller club,? he added.
?And there?s no reason why we can?t go there and win the game.?
