On Friday 27 January, The Red Imps Community Trust held a hugely successful Race Night in the Travis Perkins Suite at Sincil Bank. The very well attended event saw 9 keenly contested races during the evening, all of which saw impressive levels of betting interest. Each of the 9 races were sponsored and our thanks go to Travis Perkins, The Queen in the West, Keith Roe, Burton Mobility, Roger Fletcher Painting and Decorating, Onyx Trophies, DPS Digital and Newline Cleaning for their support. Thanks also to Lincoln United for supporting the evening.

The event was attended by a number of Club Directors, including Clive Nates, Roger Bates and Ian Reeve. The Director only race 7 proved particularly competitive, resulting in a win for the Kevin Cooke owned horse, the well named “The Moneyman”.

All of the prizes for the event were purchased from the Club resulting in £600 going direct to Lincoln City. Furthermore an estimated £800 was spent during the evening either over the bar or on food.

The evening also included a well supported £5 per ticket raffle for a one-off prize of a Paul Gascoigne signed shirt.

The exact amount of profit for the evening after prizes totalling £600 have been paid, is still being calculated but the amount is expected to be around £1500.

Thanks must go in particular to Tom Robinson for being the main organiser of the evening and to Pete Doyle for helping organise the event and for acting as MC. Thanks also to all the other volunteers and to the Lincoln City staff who helped make the evening go so well.

It is hoped the success of this evening, which we fully intend to repeat, will spur the Trust to organise other interesting, varied and financially beneficial events.
