The last time The Imps faced today’s opponents Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium was on Tuesday 20th April 2021. City won 1-0 that night, thanks to a goal scored by TJ Eyoma in the 27th minute.

Ahead of today’s match, we have done a Q&A with a Burton Albion supporter, so thank you to Jack from BrewersTV for answering our questions!

How long have you supported Burton Albion?

I’ve supported Burton for about eight years now, and have had a season ticket for the last six.

Where did you finish last season?

We finished 16th, after pulling off a miracle escape from relegation.

What do you think of your manager?

In his two spells with us, Hasselbaink has really written his name in the history of the club. First guiding us up to the top of League One, and then maneuvering us out of the relegation zone, there’s huge admiration for him.

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2020/21 season?

I think I would expect that we can avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle, but I certainly hope we can push up the league table, maybe forming a play-off push.

One(s) to watch?

Harry Chapman. His loan signing raised some eyebrows and he certainly looks the part so far, he will be the one pulling the strings.

Which teams do you think will finish in the top six in League One?

I think Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan, Oxford, and Rotherham will get the play-offs.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom four in League One?

From what I’ve seen from teams this season, I reckon Gillingham, Cambridge and Shrewsbury will go down, and I’d tip Morecambe to join them.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Lincoln have one of those fairytale Football League stories, a little like our own. Rising up and gathering momentum, it’s nice to see them now pretty secure in League One.

What do you think the score will be?

We’ve hit a bit of a bump recently and need a performance, 1-0 Burton win.

Random fact about your Club?

The Stig, from Top Gear, is allegedly a Brewers fan.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

From what I’ve seen and heard, Anthony Scully is really delivering this season, and he’s still young, he would be my choice.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Burton Albion supporter?

You could almost roll these two questions into one game, our 9-0 defeat away at Man City in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. A sucker punch of a defeat, but there was still a sense of celebration, and pride, that we had progressed so far in the competition.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

This season I think Connor Shaugnessy has been our most underrated player. Considering the bad reputation he had at Rochdale, he has really performed well at center back so far, hopefully, his form continues.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

There is no Supporter’s Trust.

Which was your favourite match involving Burton Albion?

I think Sunderland 1-2 Burton, towards the back end of our time in the Championship. Two stoppage-time goals to turn the game on its head, and absolute mayhem in the away end.

Which was your least favourite match involving Burton Albion?

There are a few to pick from in terms of big defeats, 6-0 away at Fulham, 5-0 away at Leeds, but the consecutive 4-0 home losses to Aston Villa and then Wolves really hurt.

Do you have a Former Players Association at Burton Albion?

Not that I’m aware of.

What is the best thing about Burton?

The brewing industry. It still lives on after all these years, and Burton is a proper beer town. You can smell it when you step off the train.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink seems to be a good fit as your manager. You had that with Nigel Clough as well and it can be argued that neither has succeeded anywhere else. Any idea as to why?

Honestly, I’m not too sure myself. Hasselbaink was in difficult situations with QPR and Northampton, and Clough too with Derby, but I must say I am surprised to see Mansfield struggling under him so far. Sometimes things are just meant to be.

Michael Bostwick will always be a Lincoln legend to us. What’s your view on him?

Bostwick has been consistently solid since joining us, providing experience and physicality, as I’m sure your fans are all aware.
