Lincoln City make the long trek to Merseyside this Tuesday night to face Skrill Premier Division rivals Southport at the Merseyrail Community Stadium. After holding League 2 Plymouth Argyle on Saturday to a 0-0 draw, The Imps will be looking to go one better and record only their second away win of the season.

After picking up his 5th booking on Saturday Lincoln will be without Tom Miller who will sit out the game due to suspension. Dan Gray who hasn’t featured since the start of the season should come back into the back 4 in his place. Paul Farman appeared to come through Saturdays game unscathed so should remain in goal.

Nick Wright who enjoyed one of his better games for the club will be hoping to keep his place up front, although the Imps have signed striker Chris Sharp on loan from Hereford United, and if his registration goes through in time, may be preferred as the Imps try to play a more direct game. Waide Fairhurst and Bohan Dixon will also be in contention for a start but are both unlikely to get the nod after failing to impress in recent weeks.

In what is a bizarre fixture list and after only 17 games the Imps face Southport for the second time this season. In the reverse fixture at Sincil Bank a Tom Miller goal was enough to secure Lincoln the 3 points after a trademark cross from Sean Newton. Nick Wright had the opportunity to double the lead from the spot but tamely missed his penalty.

Southport currently sit 16th in the table just one point behind Lincoln City who are sat in 13th position and will leapfrog the Imps with a victory. They will fancy their chances of claiming the three points after becoming the first team to beat Cambridge United last time out in the league with a hard fought 1-0 win. This fixture last season yielded a goal fest with Southport coming out on top winning 4-2, that scoreline however is unlikely nowadays with the Imps preferring to remain solid under Gary Simpson.
