Tomorrow afternoon Lincoln City host Swindon Town in League Two. In their first year back in the Football League, The Imps managed to take four points off The Robins. The three points were picked up away from home when Sean Raggett scored in the 83rd minute. City took the lead in the home game through a Lee Frecklington penalty, but only managed a draw, despite Swindon being down to ten men from the 21st minute.

A couple of days ago I submitted questions to a Swindon Town supporter. Below you will find out a number of things, including what he thinks of Lincoln City and his score prediction!

Thank you to Robin for answering these questions!

How long have you supported Swindon Town?

I’ve supported the Town since I was 11, so that makes two decades now.

Where did you finish last season?

A disappointing 9th. The carrot of the playoffs was dangled in front of us all season but we fell short over the last 10 games, securing only 2 wins.

What do you think of your Manager?

A huge improvement over David Flitcroft who moved to Mansfield with 10 games left of the season. Phil Brown is in general quite liked here and with good reason. He is affable and honest, has made some excellent signings, tries to play good football and seems genuinely pleased to be at the club. All the things that Flitcroft failed to do in his time at Town.

What are your hopes and expectations for this season?

Promotion is the hope, though expectation for me is playoffs. Once there anything can happen, so we shall see.

One(s) to watch?

Doughty has the potential to cause problems and was a big capture for us. Also, Matty Taylor has rolled back the years since he signed for us in January, leading in assists last season and scoring a few with his left foot. His goal against Wycombe was one of the best free kicks I have ever seen. Honestly check it out on YouTube.

Who do you think will finish in the top 7?

In order: Lincoln City, MK Dons, Notts County, Swindon Town, Northampton Town, Port Vale and Bury.

Who do you think will finish in the bottom 2?

Morecambe look to be the whipping boys of League Two and I can see some more big defeat for them as they get relegated. I also think it will be a brief sojourn for Macclesfield in the Football League and they will struggle to stay up.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Lincoln are a club with excellent management, good support and a rich history. It’s great to see them back in the Football League.

What do you think the score will be?

I think Lincoln will have enough to win this, so optimistically I’ll go with a 1 all draw.

What will your likely default formation and style of play be for this season?

4-3-3 is the preferred choice, with a target man and two wingers. This is how we’ve been playing through pre-season and looks like it will be our game plan.

Random fact about your Club?

We’re the only Football Club to have a Rolex clock. It’s not as classy as it sounds.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

It would’ve been Waterfall, but since that’s no longer an option Toffolo would be welcome back as he was excellent for us on loan a few seasons ago.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Swindon Town Supporter?

The League One playoffs 3 seasons ago saw us score 5 past Sheffield United to get to Wembley only to be stuffed 4-0 by Preston North End once we got there, which sums up supporting Swindon really. In terms of proudest moments, I’m too young to remember most of them, unfortunately!

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

We have a lot of new faces so this one is hard to answer. From players that are still here from last season, I would probably say Kyle Knoyle – his transition from youth football to professional football has been seamless.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

We do and currently, we are working on a shared stadium bid with the club, as it is currently owned by the Council. I believe this will be a big step forward in our development and a great chance to give supporters a bigger say on the running of our club.

Which was your favourite match involving Swindon Town?

As I said above scoring 5 past Sheffield United was pretty special and running on the pitch to celebrate felt magical.

Which was your least favourite match involving Swindon Town?

Again as above, being brought back down to Earth at Wembley the following game was gutting.
