Views from the Match Thread ahead of kick-off:

PortMacImp: “I know Liam Bridcutt and Joe Walsh are unlikely to be fit to play, which is a shame, but it will be interesting to see the line-up and formation of the team for this tough game. It is just good to have the football starting again and I shall watch it live whilst enjoying a Theakstons Old Peculier or two. Hoping for a win, any sort of win will do.”

Luke Imp: “Difficult one today. We’re two or three years behind Oxford in terms of manager and squad consistency and building.

Things will probably have to click for most of the game to get a result but it’ll be good to use this game, albeit it’s a very early stage, of how we’re going to cope with the sides as good as Oxford this season. Not necessarily just the result but how we are in and out of possession.”

Impish: “Fully expecting a loss, Oxford are a strong team with the majority of last seasons very good squad intact. Hoping for a spirited Imps showing and a lot closer result than the last time they visited at SB. Think this challenge will be a little too early for us to overcome but if we play well and it’s looking like the squad and formations are already gelling, I won’t be too unhappy.”
