Optimism Leads The Way

There is something I’ve been thinking about recently, and that is. Is there a football manager in the football league that is respected more than Peter Jackson? He just demands respect, and he gets it! He is a man who will stick to his word, and is liked by many, yet hated by few!

The only manager that I can think of, is possibly Dario Gradi – but thats because of how long he has been in football. Jacko still has the respect of the Huddersfield fans – he’s still a hero there. Then you only have to think about the fans of other clubs who have wished him luck. He is a well liked man, for football is his life.

This man has battled the most dangerous disease in the world, and fingers crossed he’s beaten it for good. It is a time when all of the football world should unite when something sad happens, and it did. It put my life into perspective. This man had been our manager for only a few months when he announced that he had throat cancer. I personally felt it was my duty to give some optimism back to the gaffer whilst he went through that torrid time! I ran in the Lincoln 10k, to raise funds for the lord of the imps! I successfully did the race, and i raised a total of £1458 – with £500 of that being donated to the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.. The place that treated Jacko.. And £958 to Cancer Research UK.. Personally, I was only looking to raise a couple of hundred pounds. I was astonished with the donations by other football club fans! Donations coming in from Bristol Rovers, MK Dons, Birmingham, Boston fans.. All clubs that Jacko has not actually had anything to do with. He does just ooze respect!

He’s impressed me with his positive PR, he’s actually taken our football club by the scruff of the neck and put us in the right direction. It has to be a matter of time before he wins promotion again, the last time being in 2004, with Huddersfield Town.

Everytime i am in the same room as him, or whenever i read an article about him, it fills me with the optimism that i have never felt before! I just hope for all the optimism he’s putting into the club, he can be rewarded with a new contract, or the thing he actually wants, and thrives!! PROMOTION!

Jacko is the man who you hate when he is an opposition manager, but you’d love him as your manager!! Long may it continue for the Lord Of The Imps to remain in charge of my football club.
