Former Lincoln City striker Matt Green signed a two-year contract with Grimsby Town yesterday, following his release from Salford City a few days ago.

In my honest opinion, I believe Matt Green is a really good signing for The Mariners. Like Joe (Rasenimp) has said, if he gets the service he will get 10 to 15 goals and he is a very hard working player. I also agree that he would be better playing up front with someone, rather than on his own.

Speaking to iFollow Mariners, Matt Green said: “It feels great to be here. It’s a big club – you realise that as soon as you walk in through the door. The amount of history and success the club has had over a long period of time. It’s great for me to be able to come here and play back in the Football League, and hopefully add some quality to the team.

I like to play for clubs that are highly ambitious because I am myself, so I like to go somewhere that is fighting for promotion or a cup run. It’s all about trying to get as much success as you can as a player – especially if the manager is telling you that they’re going for it this season. He’s got a lot of experience, and he’s a good manager, and it’s something that you always want to be a part of.”

Reaction on 100% Imps:

Rasenimp: “Yeah, reckon he’s a decent signing for them. If he gets a bit of service he’ll get 10-15 league goals and he always puts a shift in. Definitely best if they play someone next to him as opposed to the lone striker but can see him working out there, always liked him.”

Casperimp: “Well the codhead fans seem distinctly underwhelmed! They are a bottom half League 2 side who were they expecting for goodness sake Harry Kane!!

Think he is a good signing for them at that level. Some of their fans really need to stock of where they are in the footballing world and stop living off events from nearly 20 years ago!”

Luke Imp: “Good signing for the Cods. A better striker than they’d probably expect to get for their position over the last couple of seasons.

Will get them 10-12 goals or so.”

The Imposter: “Underwhelmed? Why on earth why? A cracking signing for a club of their calibre. First Nadesan goes to Crawley, then Greeny goes to Grimsby. The lesser clubs are doing some good business this summer.”
