The last time The Imps played tonight’s opponents Morecambe away from home was on Saturday 23rd February 2019, in front of a crowd of 2,352, including 747 away supporters. City won 2-0 that day, thanks to two Bruno Andrade goals (10′ & 57′).

Ahead of tonight’s match, we have done a Q&A with a Morecambe supporter, so thank you to Dom from The Carwash Terrace (@CWTerrace) for answering our questions!

How long have you supported Morecambe?

My first season supporting the Shrimps was 2006/2007, our final season in the Conference.

Where did you finish last season?

4th. It’s not ridiculous to argue that we would have finished higher, were it not for a few silly red cards in matches vs. Other top 7 clubs. Though we won the play-offs so it’s all okay.

What do you think of your manager?

I was, and still am a huge fan of Derek Adams, so Stephen Robinson has had big shoes to fill. However, he’s doing a good job so far. The style of play is considered to be more “attractive” than his predecessor and he comes across like a real lover of football and of the people. The latter is something I am really impressed by.

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2020/21 season?

I’m a firm believer that you must always improve on your previous season. With this being our first ever in League One, I hope and expect that we will avoid relegation this season and give ourselves a solid foundation to build on.

One(s) to watch?

Arthur Gnahoua is bang in form, and Cole Stockton is currently the most prolific striker in Europe this season.

Which teams do you think will finish in the top six in League One?

It’s definitely too early to predict, but looking at the current table: Wigan Athletic, Sunderland, Rotherham United, MK Dons, Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom four in League One?

Again, too early to predict but I’ll go with: Doncaster Rovers, Crewe Alexandra, Gillingham and Cambridge United.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Good club, always enjoyed watching us play there in seasons gone by in League Two. Although we haven’t got the best record against you which would give me a better impression, so hopefully that will improve this season!

What do you think the score will be?

2-2 or 2-1 Morecambe.

Random fact about your Club?

Despite being the bookies’ perpetual favourites to go down, no matter what division, we have never been relegated in our illustrious 101-year history.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Teddy Bishop would be a good addition to our squad as he looks comfortable on the ball and likes to get the play moving forward quickly, which would suit our play.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Morecambe supporter?

The Proudest moment(s) would definitely be the two play-off victories.

Most embarrassing… losing 1-0 away at FC Halifax in an F.A Cup First Round Replay. We just weren’t very good in either of the ties and our F.A Cup record under Jim Bentley was tragic.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Ryan Cooney is a bloody brilliant footballer, and he loves a tackle. Kyle Letheren’s quality has also been forgotten about with all the excitement over signing Jökull Andresson.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

We do have a supporter’s trust, and essentially their role is to ensure sound running of the club in which decisions on the club’s present and future always consider and will benefit the fans and supporters.

Which was your favourite match involving Morecambe?

A couple of matches back in 09/10. A 3-2 victory away at Shrewsbury (Dave Artell heads the winner late on) and a 4-3 home win vs. Crewe (Dave Artell heads the winner late on). Can you see a theme?

Which was your least favourite match involving Morecambe?

If not that 1-0 defeat to FC Halifax I mentioned earlier, there’s a couple of defeats: 7-2 at Port Vale and a 7-0 away at Cambridge, they will live long in the memory.

Do you have a Former Players Association at Morecambe?

I don’t actually know the answer to this, and now feel like I probably should!

What is the best thing about Morecambe?

Objectively speaking, the views across Morecambe Bay are absolutely spectacular.

Can you hang onto Cole Stockton for the whole season?

Of course, and next season as well. He’s done very well for Morecambe whenever he’s played for us, and he’s failed to match the same levels elsewhere. So, with that in mind, I’d fancy our chances of keeping him. Although £1-2M would be difficult to turn down.

Should you have kept hold of Kevin Ellison or did Adams get that one right?

Very divisive question but I like it, and there are two sides to every story. I have great admiration and respect for what both of these strong characters did for us in their time here.

Honestly, what was your first thought when Derek Adams quit days after promotion to go to Bradford City? Remember this is a family site.

There were rumours flying around in January that he would be leaving us to join Bradford for the 21/22 season. Although I didn’t want to believe it would happen, that gave me more time to accept it as a possibility. I’ll be forever grateful for what he achieved at the club, and I look out for Bradford’s results every Saturday/Tuesday to see how he’s getting on. Obviously, there’s disappointment, but he’s a Morecambe legend and Stephen Robinson is a fitting replacement.

Having been most pundits’ favourite for 24th, what would be a good finish for a diehard shrimp?

First-ever season in League One? 20th and above would be a good finish. We’re doing well so far, so if that continues, we’ll be okay and will be able to kick on next season.

We know that there are people that would like to contribute towards the development of The Stacey West Stand but won’t be able to put in the minimum of £500.00 towards the bond, so this is a great way to raise some money together and donate to this project!
