Views from johnolbe following yesterday’s 3-0 defeat away at Bolton Wanderers in League One: “My thoughts for what they are worth.

We had a rocky first 5 minutes but until the first goal we competed pretty well and grew into the game. I was right behind the first goal, it looked saveable but it did take a highish bounce of the pitch but Wickens dived late from a standing position instead of a side step to his left first. No goalkeeping expert but that was my gut first thought, i.e no foot movement before the attempted dive.

Erhahon behaved like a petulant, childish gobshite all game, he was involved with a few run-ins with McAtee, gave a shocking square pass to Darikwa 20 yards out and was bitching the referee constantly. I watched the sending-off unfold prior to halftime and Erhahon went looking for trouble with the referee and got what he deserved.

Leaving House on after half-time was a waste, he was pulling out of tackles and contributed nothing due to fear of being sent off. O’Connors booking for dissent was plain stupid too and left him on the edge. When will they learn?
I’ve seen teams look tidy with 10 men and make it hard for the opposition, we didn’t, we never threatened them, never kept tidy possession but just sat back, played plenty of hoof ball, waiting like lambs for the inevitable.

As per we stopped to the end to acknowledge the player’s efforts but ashamedly I couldn’t raise a clap such was the disappointment with the player’s ill-discipline and performance.

It’s not the time for drastic action, MS is facing his toughest test in management yet but deserves the fans’ backing and support. It is a harsh learning curve for him but he deserves all the time he needs to get back on track.
Reminder to fans posting at home”

More views from the Match Thread:

PerthImp: “Very difficult to take anything positive from that performance. Far too predictable. Poor defence with little or no tackling/blocking (too many players defending and getting in each other’s way). Even less enjoyable with Hortin and Gordon stating the obvious or even just spouting drivel. Nothing more to say.”

APHLCFC: “This feels quite significant. It’s very hard to turn things around once they start getting this bad. The signs are there, Ill discipline, arguing with each other, individual errors. When things go wrong they can snowball pretty quickly.

I don’t know if MS can turn it around, I’ve never really been able to get a handle on whether he’s good or not. One thing I do know is that we were told we needed to be playing a certain way to make our players look attractive to Championship clubs. We play very basic football which is one of the reasons I believe Kennedy was sacked?

MS will do very well to turn around attitudes, performances and results from here.”

clanfordimp: “Not having that from Scubala. I know you can’t come out and slag people off but he dipped out of that saying that he is still waiting to hear what the ref has to say regarding the incident and he’ll deal with it internally.

If I was Scubala I would have sent Erhahon out so that he could give his side and told him to apologise to the fans while he’s out there.

We all know what’s gone on, he hasn’t got a leg to to stand, he’s got two yellows within 5 minutes because for some reason he can’t help himself gobbling off at referees. Refs know this and they aren’t having it and rightly so.

He single-handedly cost us the game against probably the worst Bolton side we have come up against.”

Imp in Exile: “I was there today. Those who say we played well until their first goal must have been watching a different match from me. It was abject from beginning to end. It amuses me that some people want to blame the recruitment team for the summer signings. Do you really think that any player would be signed without the manager’s agreement? The responsibility for our current dire form rests fairly and squarely with Skubala as he is the man in charge. Another bad result and performance against Rotherham and his job has to be in danger.”

Totally agree, he has brought some real quality of play to the team and I do believe in him, more so after the January window

  • Malcolm Brown says:

City shipped out two better goalkeepers than Wickens, Jordan Wright to Grimsby and Sam Long to Bromley, so with an unpredictable goalie and forwards who are missing chances and what’s happened to Tyler Walker ? City cannot look forward to the new year unless the wallet is opened.

Where are the likes of Benn,Gallagher, give Moylan more play,.in one cup game Pardington did enough for me and deserves his chance.
Just pick your strongest team and give them a run of games.I think Jacko is back tomorrow, and does he MS know Montsma can play right M/F he’s done it before.
Come on MS-CC you should know your players by now, and give Cadamatarie regular starts and full games so the front players can, get more conversant with play.

Come on Boys go for it.
