Imps skipper Paul Morgan is facing a race against time as he battles to shake off an ankle injury in time for Saturday’s clash with Macclesfield.

The Ulsterman picked up the knock in a challenge with Northampton striker Scott McGleish at Sixfields Stadium on Saturday and he has been undergoing intensive treatment since Sunday in a bid to cure the problem.

He told the Lincolnshire Echo: ‘The ankle was really sore and I went into the club on Sunday and yesterday for treatment. I tried to play on, but in the end it was too much and I came off as a precaution.

‘It was painful, but I’m quite happy with how it has settled down and I’m hoping to be fit for Saturday.’

His possible absence at the weekend would be another blow for the Belfast-born stopper after already missing seven games of a stop-start campaign through suspension, following dismissals against Chester and Torquay.
