-STATEMENT OF LINCOLN CITY SUPPORTERS’ TRUST BOARD DATED FRIDAY 6th JUNE 2014-

Seven current directors of the Lincoln City Supporters Trust Board have today resigned with immediate effect three weeks before the Board’s annual meeting on June 30th.

The resigning directors said in joint statement that they had been unable to fund raise and help City FC because of negative campaigning against their Board and that some had faced intolerable pressure.

The statement reads in full:

‘All of us who serve on the Trust Board are volunteers. Some directors have felt under attack for several years.

They have experienced personal attacks and been the subject of various allegations concerning their individual personal integrity.

Confidential Information has been leaked (on social media sites) making it very difficult for the board to operate effectively.

Trust board members do not defend themselves on these sites, as to do so would be in breach of the confidentiality agreement drawn up at the Trust’s inception. This agreement has been entered into by all members of the Trust board.

Some directors have also been subjected to ongoing barrages of emails despite reasonable requests that this should cease.

Over a period of several years, several Trust directors have resigned because of the oppressive atmosphere, negative campaigning and intolerable pressure.

At the start of the 2013-14 season the new Trust Board agreed to concentrate on the following:-

a) Fundraising.

b) Communication.

c) The Constitution, many areas of which were ambiguous.

The Supporters’ Trust is an organisation that exists to fundraise on behalf of the football club. It is sad that, under these pressures, time and resources have been diverted and it has not been possible to address these important issues. In fact it is testament to the tenacity of the unjustly maligned Trust directors that, nevertheless, during the season, more than £1,600 was raised by Trust fundraising in addition to funds raised by the successful Gold Members section.

The Trust Directors resigning today are all volunteers who have the best interests of Lincoln City Football Club at heart. They all lead lives away from the club with their own personal pressures and challenges. It is in that context that this decision has been made today. It has not been made lightly. But enough is enough. Every one of them will continue to support their beloved Imps.

The directors are as follows:-

Lesley Barker, Andrew Blow, Elaine Elvidge, Neil Ferguson, Helen Jacobs, Fran Martin and Secretary Geoff Forbes.

There will be no further comment by the above on this statement.’
