NEW QUIZ: Sheffield Wednesday v Lincoln City: A random selection of questions put together by one of our members!

Sheffield Wednesday: Lewis Montsma still has swelling around his knee, with MK reluctant to speculate about the injury until that has gone and a MRI can be conducted. Both TJ Eyoma and Joe Walsh are back in training, such that MK looks forward to welcoming them back from a playing perspective, soon.

MK has embraced all the games played this season and loved every minute, possibly from the point of view that it has all been a new experience for him. Notwithstanding that he sees all games of equal importance – expecting the players to do likewise, MK also appreciated the attraction that Sheffield Wednesday bring to a match.

“It will be great to go and coach at Hillsborough, such an iconic stadium, against an iconic team; having played against them many, many times”.

The Owls deserve their high league position on merit. It will be a stern test as they have outstanding, physically big, powerful players allied to the technical challenge they will pose the Imps back line.

League of Ireland Loan Players: The youngsters out on loan at LOI clubs have been back with the Imps during the week and it has been good to see them; they are all doing really well.

“The plus of being in Ireland is to go and play in a competitive league, good opposition, living away from home. All the multiple challenges you get as a young lad standing on your own two feet”.

The only downside is that whilst the players are monitored it is physically difficult for MK to watch them in person and therefore measure their performances, with The LOI being a competition in another country.

Sean Roughan: The player has deserved his recent call-up to represent the Republic of Ireland at a national level on the back of a brilliant season which has seen him play over 2300 minutes, establishing himself as one of the best defensive left-backs in the division.

MK touched upon Sean’s emergence throughout the season as Jamie Robson (an experienced player in his own right for his age) had been ‘ahead of him’ at the start of the season.

“Sean’s form pushed him (JR) out the team, convinced us that we’d allow Jamie to move on with Sean coming through”

MK outlined the physical and mental maturity that had featured in his development this year. Earlier in the campaign Sean would sometimes look towards the coaches for help during the game, ironically when he was often doing the right things well; possibly looking to come off around the 60/70 minutes mark. He has now toughened up mentally, in addition to cramp being physically less of an issue for Sean now.

Some of Sean’s best performances have been seen against the top opponents he has faced in the division and he is a player who has an excellent attitude displaying a determination to succeed and learn within the game.
