The product of the Centre of Excellence, 19 year old Kern Miller has signed for Barnsley with the Imps apparently losing out on any transfer fee or compensation.

With Albert Jarrett also likely to walk away on a free at the end of the season it does beg the question, how has this happened?

Whilst we are not all privy to contract details you have to question the decision to give young Miller a six month contract which then precludes any form of compensation should he walk at the end of it. Was that down to Chris Sutton or an oversight by the Club? Is anyone actually looking to players contracts and working out the implications in the length of contracts.

Jarrett as has been reported signed only a one year deal following his release from Barnet last season. That means, as we understand it, that he is now free to talk to clubs about a move in the summer. Hardly what you want to hear when you need every player fully focussed on avoiding relegation.

Meanwhile the Barnsley mananger has expressed his delight at the signing of the promising youngster.

‘Kern is a player with a lot of potential,’ Mark Robins told Barnsley’s official club website.

‘We are looking forward to helping him develop and hopefully fulfill that potential here at Barnsley. I am delighted that he has joined us.’
