Match Reports – Official Club Websites

Lincoln City OS:

“Michael Bostwick gave the home side the lead, before Harry Pickering equalized on the cusp of half time. The visitors scored three times in the second half, Jordan Bowery scored twice with Paul Green scoring from the spot.

City opened proceedings on the front foot with most of the play taking place in the Crewe half, Tom Pett hit a shot on the swivel which was well blocked as The Imps attacked with purpose down the left flank against a visiting side which looked a little nervy in possession. Danny Rowe then fashioned a chance for Matt Rhead, the winger’s quick feet got him past Zoumana Bakayogo and his centre was turned goalwards by the number nine, but his effort was halted on its way to goal by a number of Crewe players with ‘keeper Ben Garratt also diving to his left hand side in preparation for the ball heading his way.”

Report: The Imps V Crewe Alexandra

Crewe Alexandra OS:

“The Imps took the lead through Michael Bostwick, but Harry Pickering levelled with a wonderful free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

A Jordan Bowery brace and Paul Green penalty within the first 23 minutes of the second period paved the way for a fine three points as the Alex recorded an inspiring victory.

Boss Dave Artell tinkered his starting XI again for the trip to Lincoln City, with three changes from the midweek loss to Exeter.

Jamie Sterry returned from illness, Jordan Bowery came back into the side, and George Ray started his first game of the season after recovering from a back injury. Michael Raynes, Harry McKirdy and Tommy Lowery dropped to the bench.”

Match Reports – What The Newspapers Say

Lincolnshire Live:

“Lincoln City slipped to a rare home defeat as Crewe eased their relegation fears with an emphatic 4-1 victory at Sincil Bank.

City took the lead 10 minutes before the break when Michael Bostwick nodded home from close range.

But the turning point of the match arrived on the stroke of half-time as the Alex levelled when Harry Pickering hammered a free-kick into the top corner of the net.

Crewe then made the bright start to the second half, taking the lead just three minutes after the break when Shaun Miller’s low cross was slotted home by Jordan Bowery.”

Match report – lacklustre Lincoln City swept aside by Crewe Alexandra

Crewe Chronicle:

“Crewe Alex produced their best performance of the season to beat promotion-chasing Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday.

They fought back from a Michael Bostwick opener when Jordan Bowery ended an 18-game scoring drought with a super brace, and Harry Pickering and Paul Green got their first goals for the club.

An outstanding second-half display will have given the side a great deal of confidence, as they moved up to 18th in League Two.

Crewe were looking for their first away points of 2018, and to bounce back from their shocking injury-time defeat to Exeter in midweek.”
