Jordan Maguire-Drew made a stunning start to his Lincoln City career, scoring after just nine minutes in a 3-1 friendly defeat to Benfica B, in the Imps’ second pre-season game of the summer.
The Brighton loanee, on his first outing for Danny Cowley’s side since his move from the south coast, curled home a great strike from 20 yards to put Lincoln ahead at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, in the Algarve.
It wasn’t such a great beginning for fellow newboy Ollie Palmer, though, who struck a post with a penalty after the Imps had seen their lead wiped out in a match consisting of three 30-minute periods.
Benfica B then struck twice more to seal a 3-1 success as goalkeeper Josh Vickers also made his debut for the club, alongside three unnamed trialists, one rumoured to be young Huddersfield midfielder Regan Booty. There were also outings for Billy Knott and Josh Ginnelly, while an injury kept Sean Long on the sidelines.
