Luke Waterfall and Matt Green talk to the press ahead of Sunday’s game against Shrewsbury Town in the Checkatrade Trophy Final.

Luke Waterfall: Bigger crowd than when he went with Wrexham so expecting a better atmosphere. Aware that Wembley has caught hold of the city which was needed due to the preceding five or six years. The Cowley’s have brought the club back to life. They are the most thorough managers he has played under leaving no stone unturned. The players have no room for excuses and will thrive as underdogs. Remembers the atmosphere at Ipswich in particular and wants the fans to be loud. It would be a dream come true to lift the trophy at Wembley as captain.

Matt Green: Been to Wembley as a player twice and scored there to boot. Already spoken to players that have not been there previously to pass on his experience. The entrance will be noisier than normal but still grounded that it is a game of football. Stated he didn’t set goal targets as such but would like to hit twenty for the season. Joked that if the Cowleys set his targets it would be forty a season. He didn’t have a problem playing in his new role as the managers felt it was best for the team. He had been told not to worry about opposing full backs bombing on due to Imps strong midfield and to concentrate on getting into the box. he felt that the new position enabled him to get on the ball whilst still being able to drift in. The players will take energy and adrenaline from the atmosphere.
