This weekend sees the Imps return to League action following their 5-0 hammering at the hands of Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday night, Hereford United provide the opposition at Sincil Bank. They come to Lincoln in a similar plight to the Imps, struggling in the wrong half of the table and only a hand full of points above the relegation zone.

The Imps are really struggling at the moment and Wednesdays 5-0 defeat won`t help the confidence in the squad as well as the stands. Simpson still seems impervious to change and keeps on persisting with the same out of position personnel and blunt tactics. One expected change is in defence with Andrew Boyce on his way to Scunthorpe united as I type. This is likely to see Foster drop to the centre of defence in his place. Further forward loan striker Chris Sharp is ineligible to play against his parent club. This makes two games in a row the striker has been unable to play, doesn`t seem like a wise loan when a player is missing games due to the restrictions of the loan.

Other than these enforced changes to the Imps I am not too sure how we will line up, formations were switched on a whim on Wednesday, a sign of desperation for me, but one thing was consistent, we only played with one central striker. I expect this to be Tomlinson supported by Jackson and Wright. Players such as Nolan and Power have to work harder and perhaps break the manager`s instructions and get on the ball and play some quick balls on the ground; we do not have a target man so we should not be playing long balls up the pitch.

Hereford come to Sincil Bank on the back of a rare victory in their last match, a convincing 3-0 victory away to Southport. It was their first away win since August; I hope they won`t follow that up with another this weekend. Former Imp Josh O`Keefe has been a surprise key player for the bulls in the centre of midfield. There are two other former imps in left back Chris Bush and striker Sam Smith who are both likely to be involved at some point on Saturday.

This will be a very difficult match for the Imps, confidence must be rock bottom follow heavy defeats in recent matches. I think we will revert to a much more defensive side on Saturday and think it will be a goal less draw, Hereford themselves are one of the few sides below us in the table and like us they are there for a reason.
